Advanced Continuing Education (ACE)

The Advanced Continuing Education (ACE) Unit at MAHSA International College, Penang- is dedicated to empowering dental and healthcare professionals through high-quality skills training, hands-on workshops, and specialised short courses. ACE focuses on delivering practical, industry-relevant learning experiences designed to enhance clinical competencies and professional growth. Our programs include both dental and allied health training opportunities, from upskilling short courses to specialised workshops for skill enhancement. Since its inception in 2023, ACE has successfully conducted implantology programs, fixed prosthodontic masterclasses in collaboration with I&V Global Dental Academy, India, and supported the completion of the Dental Clinical Assistant training (first cohort graduated in July 2025).

By bringing together expert faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and a commitment to lifelong learning, ACE ensures participants gain the knowledge, confidence, and skills to excel in their practice and keep pace with evolving industry standards

Impacted Lower 3rd Molar Workshop

The Impacted Lower Third Molar Workshop is a hands-on dental training event organized by Penang International Dental College on 28 April 2026 from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the Simulation Lab, PIDC. The workshop focuses on the surgical management of impacted wisdom teeth, covering introduction, surgical procedures, complications, management methods, and live demonstrations with practical hands-on sessions using mannequins. It features expert speakers Assoc. Prof Dr. Marzuki Bin Zainal Abidin and Abin Varghese. The program is designed for students, alumni, and dental practitioners who want to improve their oral surgery skills through guided clinical practice and expert supervision.

Emergency Preparedness in Dental Settings

The workshop titled “Emergency Preparedness in Dental Settings” is a one-day practical training session designed for dental clinic assistants to build skills in handling medical emergencies in clinical environments. It takes place on 24 April 2026 at Penang International Dental College, Butterworth. The program covers key areas such as recognizing common emergency situations, preparing and managing emergency equipment and medications, and understanding team roles during critical incidents. Participants also engage in hands-on simulation and role-play exercises to practice real emergency response scenarios. The session aims to improve readiness, coordination, and confidence when managing urgent situations in dental clinics.

The “Intellectual Property Made Simple” programme is a half-day Continuing Professional Development session held on 24 April 2026 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Penang International Dental College. The session focuses on practical methods to protect ideas, patents, and creative work, with clear guidance on intellectual property strategies for everyday innovators and creators. Led by Gururajaprasad K. L. Rao from the Department of Orthodontics, the programme highlights real examples, including patent and copyright applications, to build awareness and skills in safeguarding innovations. Participants receive CPD points, and the session targets students, staff, alumni, and professionals interested in securing their intellectual assets.

Workshop on Occlusion, Facebow Transfer & Cast Mounting

This workshop focuses on practical skills in occlusion, facebow transfer, and cast mounting, aimed at improving precision in prosthetic dentistry. It covers core principles of occlusion, techniques for recording occlusal relationships, and the use of a facebow to transfer maxillary position to an articulator. Participants will also learn how to mount maxillary and mandibular casts using a semi-adjustable articulator with CR or MI records. The session includes hands-on training using simulators, guided by four experienced trainers from prosthetic dentistry departments in Malaysia and Sri Lanka. The event takes place on 17 April 2026 at Penang International Dental College, Butterworth, runs from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, and offers limited seats for 15 participants on a first-come basis, with CPD points awarded.

The Art of Manuscript Writing & Clinical Pitfalls in the Diagnosis of Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders : Research Talk organized by the Penang International Dental College on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, with the objective of enhancing knowledge in research and clinical dentistry. The session features Prof. Ruwan D. Jayasinghe, Chair Professor of Oral Medicine and Periodontology from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, who will present two informative sessions: a research talk titled “The Art of Manuscript Writing,” which aims to guide researchers and academics in the preparation and publication of scientific manuscripts, followed by a guest lecture titled “Clinical Pitfalls in the Diagnosis of Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders,” which emphasizes significant clinical considerations and challenges in diagnosing oral conditions that may lead to malignancy. The event was held at Lecture Hall 3, Level 19, Penang International Dental College, and also provided CPD points for attendees.
